Travelling into the Trees
Hope Between Giant Trees and
Seedlings of Rare Tree Species
Our last family stay in Indonesia was in Bogor. It was because my children were sick during our stay in the place before, we were then suddenly decided moved to Bogor. The positive side about it, I was then very intentional about visiting Kebun Raya Bogor. Inside the garden , we were driving around using E- motorcycle rented directly several meter away after passing through the entrance ticketing. We saw a lot of giant trees like this. Those are Canarium decumanum (Family Burceraceae) with buttress roots and native from Moluccas. We nevcr stop to be amazed..seeing such trees..even after we came back home here. They are still exist, standing still, no matter what.. civil war, independence war.., series of catastrophes, modern peoples, generations..apparently had and have been no distractions at all for them.. They are protected. Even not, who is stronger than them that can destroy them? Their existence filling and straighten again our soul.
Unfortunately, after searching around and lost, it was only in the last minutes of our visit there, that I finally found Gedung Sembilan, the department who doing germination, growing and cultivate the seedlings of rare tree species range from 15 cm, 50 cm or even 3 m high.
