The illustration framed in tapered peak form (Gunungan) to represent life phase about living in Southern Italy. The most epic are the memories on the colour of the seawater. They have different colours in each season. In winter the seawater is dark grey. Soon the spring come, the deep strong blue colour of the water would take all of your soul, wash it and rebirth it become someone new of you once you take walk back home. When you just mad because just missing bus or distraction in the street, the blue colour of seawater really heals you. But in certain other time, there are also some forest become so dry soon when the summer heat peaks. The forest ranger and firefighter been always awake to watch because the fire can be soo easily happened in the forest above. Such forest view mostly had served the morning every time I opened the window. When the summer heat struck the breath, the seawater changed its colour into very light turkish and crystal clear blue water that heal my thirst when I swim just in the seaside. The wave and the cliff stones where the houses stands upon can be found in Scilla, Villa San Giovanni or Tropea.
The „Gunungan“ form used here is a triangular or tapered peak form inspired by the shape of mountain. It is a special figure used as the opening or closing or a sign of changing plays or story stages in Javanese shadow puppet performance. It is symbolized the state of the world and its content. As of using it for my illustration, It does represent the state of my experience of that life time.
